Ship type Lemsteraak
The Lemsteraak is a traditional frisian flat bottomed sailing boat with no central keel. It is predominantly built in the Netherlands. Lemsteraaks perfectly match the requirements of flat waters (e.g. sewers and rivers) and beaches. Lemsteraaks have a very slight draught.
To achieve a stable status also in the open sea, a Lemsteraak has fins at the side, which can be used on demand. This enables Lemsteraaks to gain high speed.
The first lemsteraak was built in 1876 at the van De Boer shipyard in Lemmer, Netherlands. Lientje was the first ship of its kind having a length of 10 meters (32,9 ft).
